Need money fast?

It’s a crisp Monday morning in fresh, early September. Yet something feels empty. It’s your bank account. You barely survived the onslaught of debit orders. Suddenly those Aviator, forex & “sell a course ” TikToks look delicious.

How is EVERYONE else seemingly making so much money?! There’s always a new car in the parking lot. Your friends are permanently on holiday. You know those friends - the ones who posted 54 Instagram story posts soaking up European summer?

Firstly, the highlight reel is VERY different to reality. Most folks are catching hands in this economy. It’s just disguised under mountains of suffocating debt & perhaps some fraud. According to DebtBusters, the debt to income ratio of people earning more than R35,000 a month is over 185%. For every rand earned, they owe R1.85 in debt.

It’s super clear you can’t compete with trust fund babies, corporate criminals & debt demons. So how do you level up & secure the bag quickly?

Here’s a few excellent ways to stack more paper (that actually work):

1. Become futureproof. The formula here is super simple. Invest in levelling up high demand skills, rack up experience, become more valuable, get paid more. There’s tons of in-demand skills - applications of AI, prompt engineering, digital & data literacy, blockchain basics. (Asking ChatGPT how to make the perfect omelette doesn’t count fyi).

2. Become a dealmaker: Right now there’s a chunk of cash sitting on the table right in front of you. You can push any button. Negotiate for a higher salary internally. Move roles & secure a better compensation package. Push for a promotion & use the more senior role to have a salary. Ultimately anything that increases your leverage & bargaining power is a great place to be.

3. Shamelessly self promote. Brand yourself well. Spending hours arguing trolls on football twitter is a waste of your time. Also, your enemy is 11 years old & uses his parent’s credit card to buy FIFA points. Use social media to your advantage. Sure, LinkedIn can be super cringe but authentic, consistent content will make you stand out. There’s no point being the best chef in the world, if nobody knows you’re in the kitchen.

There’s wayyyyy too many finance coaches out there encouraging you to cut your coffee, recycle bath water & re-use paper towels. We’re not about that life. Expect more “how to realistically & legally make more money” type content from our side.
